0-6-0 Diesel Mechanical Locomotive SEC 1

In 1950 the State Energy Commission of Western Australia (SECWA) purchased from the Drewery Car Co. in England a diesel locomotive which was almost identical to the Tasmanian V class loco's.

This locomotive spent it's entire working life at the South Fremantle power station hauling wagons of coal from the Robb Jetty yard to the tippler.

The basic controls of SEC 1

When the power station closed, the locomotive was redundant and in 1985 SECWA donated it to Hotham Valley Railway. It was then given the name "South Fremantle" and numbered SEC 1.

This locomotive is currently based at Dwellingup where it is used on the forest railway services.
